"To live will be an awfully big fairytale"
-Peter Pan

I grew up on the border of Minnesota and South Dakota on my family's farm. In 2018, I graduated with my bachelors quickly (within 2.5 semesters). During college, I adored my time competing as a double collegiate athlete on my University's Track & Field team and riding horses on the U of M's Equestrian Team.

After graduating and working in several different fields of work, I relocated to South Dakota. Now, I am enjoying the quietness of living in rolling hills with my husband and toddler.

Outside of spending time with family, I volunteer with foster children as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for CASA. I spend time investing in their lives and advocating for them in the court room through their foster care journey. I also love spending time in my garden, remodeling our home, and if you read a bit further I obviously LOVE exploring earth.

I love exploring and trying new things. I chase after things that inspire me, which is why photography is so dear to me—it inspires me to focus on the beauty of life. God is a huge impactor as to why I see life this way!

Meet Danielle Nicole -
adventurer, farm girl, mama,
and lover of all things beautiful

Nice to meet you!

Mount Storm King

Probably the scariest hike I've taken at the very top--HUGE dropoff. The last stretch of the hike you have to climb up with ropes, which was fun.

The Badlands

Ever stand off what feels like a thousand foot drop off on the side of a clip in the badlands at sunset? Highly recommend!

The Beach

I lived a whole summer 100 feet off the beach in South Carolina back in 2018, for a Christian missionary and discipleship training, It was a crazy summer!

Mount Rainier

My favorite mountain ever: Mount Rainier in Washington State. We had a snowball fight up there and it was epic.

i truly believe the more you experience the world, the more you appreciate everything else.

I personally was not a fan of vegas, but i tried In-N-Out and was extremely disappointed I didn't know there was a Raising Canes down the street--my fav!

Las Vegas Burgers

I love sitting down and just enjoying nature. Plus there's wildflowers and bears walking around, so even better.

Glacier Park

The most epic, stretching hike ever.

Glacier Park

My all-time favorite beach ever.

Cannon Beach

A 16-mile, 9 hour hike straight up a glacier. My biggest mistake was packing a couple cans of soup we were too busy to eat. I couldn't walk for 3 days after this hike, lol!

Glacier on Highland Trail

Another epic hike! Almost fell off, don't tell my mom. :)

Angel's Landing Hike

Seaside Beach, Oregon

I've always wanted to ride a bike down the west coast. I'm so excited that our cute little hotel had these bikes to use for free!

Spent the night in a yurt. Unfortunately, it got down to 30 degrees (felt colder) and our tiny propane heater froze up, that was fun.

Montana Yurt

I grew up skiing and snowboarding every week in the winter with my siblings and dad. Grandma and grandpa were always waiting in the chalet with banana bread and snacks!

Skiing / Snowboarding

Okay, I am NOT a desert girl, but horseshoe bend was stunning. It would've been much nicer if we hadn't been pelted by a huge sand storm that was sweeping us away.

Horseshoe Bend

I'm still really disappointed we never saw any bears on this hike!

Grinnell Lake Trail

In college, I was a double-collegiate athlete on the U of M Equestrian Team and also I threw shotput/discus for track. At that time in life, I LOVED lifting.

Bought my very first digital polaroid camera from Walmart for $80 with my birthday money. My very first film was filmed on a VHS tape!! The first "selfie" I took is in the photo above, once I got home from buying my camera.

Started taking lots of senior photos of my friends and family!! Originally, my business name was "Picture My Heart Photography".

Became my University's football team game photographer, captured a ton of fun senior and portrait sessions, and shot my very first wedding in Hudson, Wisconsin!

Relocated to eastern South Dakota from the Twin Cities (MN) and travelled all over that fall for weddings in Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Started offering a studio space as well!

The time arrived to expand the team by 2 interns who assist with wedding days as second shooters and are mentored by MBDN.

Let me introduce you to my family

next up

The hubs loved to spend time outdoors working his cattle and helping out when any of his farming buddies need help. He is the hardest worker I know! He puts up with me and all my big dreams. We met through mutual friends back in 2019 and he is the reason I moved back closer to where I grew up!

Liam is the light of our life and our legacy. He was a big surprise, but we can't imagine life without him now. The last months of watching all his first have allowed us to see the world through his eyes. This little boy is loved by all and so spoiled, but that's okay.

Our Baby

Due to growing up on a farm, I was able to get my first horse at the age of ten and have owned them ever since. Arabians have and always will be my favorites-their spirit and energy are so much fun to work with. Together, we have many WSCA Champ show and State Show placings and champion titles. I was able to raise Trevor from his colt years and put all the training on him, he will always have a special place in my heart.

If there was one thing I'd want you to know about me...

Photography and filmmaking revolve around people and knowing how to capture them in their most genuine forms. Personally, it is so much more than just a "business" to me. It allows me to use the skills God instilled within me to draw out the beauty in those around me--to take the raw moments and make them glow. Capturing the essence and story of my clients, their families, and their sacred wedding days has not only allowed me to fall in love with God's creation deeper, but also given me some wonderful clients-turned-friends as well.

it is about people, not business.
